Hiroshima & Nagasaki Commemoration | Saturday, August 9th, 1pm

Pax Christi Metro New York, together with the NYC War Resisters League, invites you to join us in commemorating 80 years since the U.S. bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Saturday, August 9th at 1pm in Tompkins Square Park;
Temperance Plaza (just east of Avenue A and St. Marks Place)

  • Prayer 
    for all who have suffered the effects of nuclear development and use
  • The ringing of a gong 80 times
    for the 80 years since the tragic dawning of the nuclear age
  • Leafleting and procession around the park
    to inform and invite action toward the abolition of nuclear weapons
  • Music
    to conclude our commemoration

The ceremony will take place at 1pm, and a 20-panel photo exhibit will be on display from noon to 5pm.
