On April 2, 2022 the Church of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Pax Christi Metro New York, along with SOMOS Community Care and Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New York, will be hosting a symposium on Catholic Social Teaching – a fundamental value of the Catholic tradition. The symposium, entitled “Good News in Tough Times: Following Jesus in a Wounded Church and Divided Nation,” will be conducted in English and in Spanish. The morning will feature two keynote speakers: John Carr of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and Bishop Octavio Cisneros, emeritus auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn in New York City.
By popular request, a YouTube copy of the March 19 Retreat is posted here. Drawing on the teachings of mystics from Rumi, Dorothee Soelle, Thomas Berry and the Appalachian People’s Pastoral and then the work of artists depicting the Last Supper, the Trinity, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Kwan Yen, to name a few. Fr. Terry Moran led us in contemplative ideas regarding peace and justice for our times.
Pax Christi Metro New York invites you to a Retreat via Zoom with Fr. Terrence Moran, Saturday, March 19th, 2021: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM
This retreat will draw on the riches of the mystical tradition as a wellspring of our own journey to become “contemplactivists.”
